PRE-PRIMARY TEACHERS’ TRAINING COURSE (ENGLISH MEDIUM)
The first three to six years play a key role in a child’s life as they begin to absorb the world around them and develop. These experiences that children have early in their lives affect their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. Children develop the healthiest when they are provided environments in which they can explore the world around them, play with others, and learn to speak and listen to others. To ensure the future success of a child, it is important to provide a strong start by providing experience which are based on sound theoretical foundations and are developmentally appropriate. Preschool is an important stage which lays the foundation for life-long learning and all round development of the child. It is also the starting point of formal education. What the child needs at this stage is a curriculum that is play based and caters to the all round development. This will enable the child to be better prepared to meet not only the immediate challenges of the primary education but also of life-long learning.
Definition of Preschool Education
Preschool education is defined as any setting imparting education to the children from 3+ to 5+ years. It is referred by any nomenclatures such as anganwadi, balwadi, nursery, preparatory, pre-primary, lower kindergarten (LKG), upper kindergarten (UKG) etc.
Objectives of Preschool Education
❖ To enhance the all round development of a children‘s personality and inclusion of healthy attitudes, life skills and good values.
❖ To lay the foundation for a healthy, productive, and satisfying life in the future by enabling the children to develop her/his maximum potential through,
∙ Physical well-being, health, and motor development
∙ Personal, social and emotional development
∙ Creative and aesthetic development
∙ Language, communication and literacy development
∙ Cognitive development -environmental awareness, development of scientific temper and developing mathematical thinking and reasoning
❖ To prepare child for smooth transitions from home to schools and from preschool to primary school .
COURSE DETAILS
- Duration of the course is one academic year.
- We offered Regular batch, Holiday batch ,Correspondence batch and online batch
- Candidates who are employed can join for Holiday classes on Saturdays and Sunday as well as other holidays from 10 am to 4 pm.
- Those candidates who cannot attend the course in regular or Holiday batch can learn through Correspondence scheme.
- Study materials will be provided to the Correspondence scheme candidates over two occasions via post after course registration.
- There will be two contact classes for 10 days for Correspondence scheme candidates.
- There will be contact classes for 10 days for Correspondence Scheme candidates. There will be two types contact classes. One is regarding the theory and other one regarding practical and record works.
- Students can opt to write the exams either in English or in Malayalam.
- The candidates can have their teaching practice, theory and practical exams in their own native districts.
- Here are mainly Two Batches: March / April Examination batch and October /November Examination batch.
- Practical examinations of March /April batch will be in the month of March and Theory examination will be in the month of April. The course certificate will be issued in May.
- Practical examinations of October /November batch will be in the month of October and Theory examination will be in the month of November. The course certificate will be issued in January.
- HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COURSE
- Candidates on successful completion of these courses are eligible to work in private educational institutions inside and outside Kerala.
- The candidates who successfully complete and pass this course are also eligible to teach in private English medium schools.
- Successful candidates on successful passing of the course will be qualified and eligible to start Day Care Centers,Play Schools and Kindergartens of their own.

Social Works
Social work practice consists of the professional application of social work values, principles, and techniques to one or more of the following ends: helping people obtain tangible services; counseling and psychotherapy with individuals, families, and groups; helping communities or groups provide or improve social and health services; and participating in legislative processes. The practice of social work requires knowledge of human development and behavior of social, economic, and cultural institutions; and of the interaction of all these factors. All teacher trainees will be submit social work report on the practical examination.
